Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about Pocket-Tracker
General Questions
What is Pocket-Tracker?
Pocket-Tracker is a companion app that gives Pokemon TCG Pocket players a competitive edge. By cross-referencing your opponent's played cards against tournament data, it identifies their likely decklist and estimates hand probabilities β helping you make smarter decisions every turn. For a deeper look at how it works, see our About page.
Is Pocket-Tracker free?
Yes, completely free. There is no subscription, no premium plan, and no hidden costs. Every feature is available to every user from the moment they register. We sustain the project through voluntary donations and non-intrusive advertising.
Do I need to download anything?
No. Pocket-Tracker runs entirely in your web browser. Simply visit pocket-tracker.com, create an account, and start using it. It works on desktop, tablet, and mobile devices.
Is Pocket-Tracker affiliated with Nintendo or The Pokemon Company?
No. Pocket-Tracker is an independent, unofficial fan project. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by, or associated with Nintendo, Creatures Inc., GAME FREAK inc., DeNA Co., Ltd., or The Pokemon Company.
Deck Prediction
How does the deck prediction work?
The prediction engine compares the cards you observe during a match against a database of thousands of tournament-verified decklists. As you log each card your opponent plays, the engine recalculates which known decklists match and displays probability bars for the most likely decks. With just 2-3 observed cards, you can often narrow it down to a handful of possibilities.
Where do the decklists come from?
Our database is built from decklists submitted to official and community-organized Pokemon TCG Pocket tournaments worldwide. We update the database regularly to reflect the current metagame. This ensures that predictions are based on decks people are actually playing, not theoretical builds.
How accurate are the predictions?
Accuracy depends on how many cards you've observed and how unique they are. A rare tech card can immediately narrow predictions to a single deck, while common staple cards shared across many decks provide less information. On average, most decks can be identified within the first few turns of play. The engine is most accurate when the metagame is well-established and tournament data is plentiful.
What if my opponent is playing a non-tournament deck?
If your opponent is playing a homebrew or off-meta deck that doesn't match any tournament list in our database, the prediction engine will show low confidence across all results. This is actually useful information β it tells you that your opponent is running something unusual, and you should adapt your strategy accordingly.
Is using a prediction tool considered cheating?
No. Pocket-Tracker does not interact with the Pokemon TCG Pocket app in any way. It doesn't read your screen, access game data, or automate any actions. You manually input the cards you observe β the same cards any attentive player would notice. The tool simply helps you process publicly available tournament data more efficiently. Think of it like keeping notes during a chess match.
Hand Deduction
What is hand deduction?
Hand deduction is an advanced feature that estimates the probability of each card being in your opponent's current hand. Once you've identified your opponent's deck (or entered their decklist manually), the engine tracks draws, plays, and shuffles to maintain a probabilistic model of what they're likely holding at any given moment.
How do I use hand deduction effectively?
Start by identifying or locking in your opponent's decklist. Then, log key game actions as they happen: when they draw a card, play a card, or shuffle. The more actions you log, the more accurate the hand probabilities become. Focus on critical turns where knowing your opponent's options would change your play β you don't need to track every single action to get value from the feature.
Does hand deduction work in Best-of Match?
Yes. In Best-of Match with open decklists, you enter your opponent's full decklist before the match. Hand deduction is available for every game in the series, with probabilities resetting between games. This is the ideal use case for hand deduction since you start with perfect knowledge of the decklist.

Features and Usage
How do I import a deck?
Navigate to the deck management section and paste your decklist in standard format β the same text format used by Pokemon TCG Pocket's in-game deck sharing and tournament platforms. Pocket-Tracker will automatically parse the card names and quantities.
Can I track my ranked season progress?
Yes. The ranked tracker automatically updates your points from match results. Use Recalibrate to sync with your in-game rank. You can visualize your progression over time with detailed graphs, track your winrate, identify trends, and monitor your climb throughout the season.
What is the leaderboard?
The global leaderboard displays the top 500 Pokemon TCG Pocket tournament players worldwide, based on official tournament results. You can search for any player and view their full tournament history, placements, and the decklists they used β great for metagame research and preparation.
What is the Meta Dashboard?
The Meta Dashboard is a metagame analysis tool that visualizes the current competitive landscape. It shows archetype usage as an interactive heatmap, lets you drill into deck variants with card-by-card differences, displays full decklists with tournament player data, and provides a matchup grid with win rates against every archetype. All data comes from real tournament results and is updated regularly.
Is Pocket-Tracker available in other languages?
Currently, Pocket-Tracker is available in English and French. The app, all content pages, and legal documents are fully translated in both languages. We may add more languages in the future based on community demand.
Can I use Pocket-Tracker on mobile?
Yes. Pocket-Tracker is fully responsive and works on smartphones and tablets. While the experience is optimized for desktop use (since you're typically playing on another device), all features are accessible and functional on mobile browsers.
Technical Questions
Why is the prediction not showing any results?
This can happen if the cards you've logged don't match any decklist in our database. Double-check that you've selected the correct cards. If your opponent is running a unique homebrew deck, it may not match any tournament list β this is expected behavior.
How often is the decklist database updated?
We update the tournament decklist database regularly to reflect the current metagame. Major updates typically happen after large tournaments and when new card sets are released. The exact frequency varies but we aim to keep the database current within days of major events.
I found a bug. How do I report it?
Please report bugs via our contact page or by emailing [email protected]. Include as much detail as possible: what you were doing, what you expected to happen, and what happened instead. Screenshots are always helpful.
